5 Hen’s Night Ideas…with a Difference
Limos, kitsch accessories and screaming ladies may be all the rage, but what if your bestie isn’t the ‘follow-the-crowd’ type? Here are some alternative hen’s night - or day - ideas. Stripper optional (but recommended).
1. TREASURE HUNTS
Give your matey a day to remember by organising a treasure hunt (for a bottle of bubbly, perhaps?). Plenty of local event companies offer the service: you can choose to solve riddles in Valletta, walking and discovering locations you may not have seen before, or use a Segway to get around the city. For the more adventurous, Malta Outdoors also includes sports elements within the programme: kayak to a cave, use a mask to dive into the sea and pick up a submerged clue. They also offer abseiling or clay pigeon shooting. Colours of Malta also incorporate the use of a polaroid camera on their Jeep Treasure Hunt, making the game more interactive and unforgettable. For more information check out Malta Outdoors or Colours of Malta.
2. COCKTAIL MAKING
Want the bride to know how to make a Mojito, Mai Tai and a Caipirinha (and then get to taste them afterwards)? Then, this is for you. The new trend for mixologists means there are professionals who will come to the venue of your choice, bring everything needed, and teach you the art of the cocktail. In some cases, the venue is also provided. The activity usually lasts one and a half hours. And, if you prefer to do so in a real working bar, some offer the service. Just be sure to book a taxi home…For more information on local mixologists, check out Molecular Fusion or The Mixologist.
3. LIFE DRAWING
Your drawing skills may not be the best, but fear not – you don’t need to be Rembrandt to enjoy this. You just need to relax and have a good giggle. The focus in life drawing classes is fun, fun, fun. Accompany this with a glass (or two) of prosecco to get your pencil gliding across the paper. Your pictures will probably be more Picasso than Degas, but that can’t be a bad thing. You’ll also all have a unique keepsake of the day.
4. SEX TOY PARTY
This is may not be for shrinking violets, but it will bring out the (sex) goddess in you all. Learn some handy tips from an expert, uncork a few bottles of wine and indulge in some window (or real) shopping. Pitch in and treat your friend to a special game to be played on her wedding night with her new hubbie (or any and every night after that!). And, it may be her hen’s night but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t treat yourself too, whether you’re single or not. Go on, spoil yourself.
5. THEME IT!
If your friend loves super heroes, get her stripper to dress up as superman; if she loves to travel, make sure the limo chauffeur is dressed up as a pilot. Incorporate your bestie’s hobbies, interests and passions on the night she should never forget. Make sure the other ladies can also let their hair down by catering to their taste: after all, if none of you enjoy yourselves, the bride-to-be won’t either.
