Top Tips for Choosing Your Ideal Honeymoon Destination

Top Tips for Choosing Your Ideal Honeymoon Destination

With a world as large and vast as the one we live in, there are many destinations just waiting to be explored. So which one should you choose for you honeymoon? Here are some of our top picks and things to consider before you choose.

Going on holiday is always a welcome treat, and celebrating your marriage is the perfect excuse, but the destination you choose will depend on a few things – from what sort of activities you’re after to your preferred climate and surroundings. There is also your budget to consider – far-flung destinations tend to cost a pretty penny, while big cities usually mean pricier accommodation.

Apart from your budget, the time of year in which you’ll be travelling will also affect your choice of destination. Different parts of the world experience different climates, and it’s important to do your research about the best time to travel to your chosen destination. Plan your trip around the hottest or coldest months of the year if temperatures reach unbearable levels where you’re going – if you’ve got your heart set on jetting off right after your wedding, it is always a great idea to take the time of year into consideration before setting your heart on a particular location (unless you don’t mind waiting a few months, which some couples do!)

Cinque Terre, Italy

Keeping the budget, climate and type of trip you’d like in mind, it’s time to start looking at destinations you can afford that will deliver the goods. If you’re a fan of the great outdoors and are looking for a bit of adventure, seek out destinations that will offer a variety of activities and entertainment options. Find the perfect spot for your first adventure as newlyweds by researching the best destinations that are suited to your preferred activity – be it mountain climbing, deep sea diving or jungle trekking.

Topping the list of adventure destinations are Thailand (where you can go kayaking, cave abseiling, climbing and trekking in the rain forest), Vietnam (where you can enjoy the vast flora and fauna of its jungles), Brazil (where you can ride a riverboat through the Amazon) and Morocco (which is both a feast for the senses and the perfect place for four-wheel-driving and camel safaris) among others.

The Sahara Desert

Meanwhile, if you’re looking to experience a different culture more than anything else, destinations that are rich in history should be at the top of your list. Luckily, you needn’t go far in search of culture, with the majority of European cities having so much to offer the history lover. Destinations like Rome and Florence in Italy, Paris in France, London in England, Athens in Greece, Prague in the Czech Republic, Berlin in Germany and Madrid in Spain are incredibly interesting destinations that will serve as a beautiful backdrop for your romance, and have the added benefit of not breaking the bank to get to.
Still, if you’d like to venture a little further afield and experience a totally different culture and way of life, great options include New York City in the US, Beijing and Shanghai in China, Machu Picchu in Peru, Bali in Indonesia, Tokyo in Japan and New Delhi in India, among so many others.
