It’s the kind of encounter that would only happen in New York, but one that this newlywed couple will no doubt cherish forever.

Photographer Meg Miller was reportedly shooting the couple, Elizabeth and Ryan, in Central Park last weekend, and while most joggers were keeping their distance from the couple, she had to put her camera down to let “this guy” pass when he got too close.

But the guy didn’t pass – he approached the newlyweds and introduced himself: “Hi, I’m Tom Hanks.”

Miller said he then went on to shake hands with the couple, kiss the bride’s hand and give them his heartfelt congratulations, as well as taking a selfie with the newlyweds, which he posted to his very own Instagram.

“He asked if they needed a wedding officiant, because he is an ordained minister,” Miller told Huffington Post, adding that while she’s had minor celebrity encounters while photographing other weddings, they were “no Tom Hanks-level celebrity.”
