1. All You Need Is Love by The Beatles

The Beatles come in on any top ten wedding tunes list, don’t they? And with good reason too! This song – one of their classics – will have guests smiling, and humming, the eternal words for, really, love is all we ever need.

2. Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

This is a song which announces to the world that, no, nothing is going to stop this love train! Be careful though: its uplifting tone might make you want to dance those few metres down the aisle and not just walk them.

3. Drops of Jupiter by Train

When this song came out in the early noughties, it made many a young woman swoon. Its timeless lyrics truly encapsulate the depth of feeling found in true friendship, love and respect; and the song’s even pacing is perfect for this stage of the ceremony.

4. What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong

And it is about to get even better. This is a golden oldie, but, oh boy, how well it has aged! Filled with hope, and an expression of faith in the beauty of life, this song looks forward with the optimism of a cloud-free day.

5. One Love by Bob Marley

While this song may be more about the need to put love at the heart of relationships between cultures and races, it also encapsulates the necessity of working together through thick and thin – just what you’re pledging to do through this ceremony.

6. Happy by Pharell Williams

Very few songs are as uplifting as this one! Don’t be afraid to jump down the aisle to the beat of this song – and encourage your flower girl and page boy to do so too (though we predict they won’t need that much encouragement).

7. All of Me by John Legend

Slower in pace, deeper in tone, John Legend’s infinitely romantic song has probably already graced your ‘top wedding songs’ list. The lyrics are the epitome of true love, expressing all anyone has ever wished for, with the lines “Give your all to me / I’ll give my all to you” representing the true meaning of this ceremony.

8. Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses

One from the rockin’ 90s, this song from Guns N’Roses may not be an obvious choice, but that’s what makes it so special. This track may make you want to head bang, instead of strut down to your soon-to-be-spouse (especially if you remember the good old days of Rock Café or Coconut), but remember there is a time and a place for everything.

9. Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles

We told you there’d be another one! This George Harrison number is one of more than a dozen other tracks from the legendary band which will remain perennial classics (Something is also one of our favourites). Written at Eric Clapton’s house (the two were close friends), this springtime of a song will be one you’ll be playing again and again on anniversaries.

10. Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid soundtrack

Maybe a bit of an offbeat choice, but not if you watched the animated film when you were a kid – and pretended to be a mermaid during those long summer days by the sea! This song will recall the heady romance of those Disney stories when you were too young to truly know what you would look for. We warn you though: your husband might not approve (even though you may know all the lyrics).
