Your idea of fun may not be everyone else’s – even your best mate’s! And, of course, vice versa. But, if you plan your own hen’s night, you won’t need to go to that tacky bar your friend loves to frequent or sing karaoke, if that’s not your thing!

2. You can get some help…but, you’ll hold the reins

Ok, let’s admit it. You might be a bit of a control freak. But, what’s wrong with that? We say roll with it – and retain the lead but be sure to delegate. After all, you’re already going to have your hands full with planning for your big day so don’t be afraid to ask for a hand.

3. You’ll know precisely who to invite

While many brides today send an excel sheet to their maid of honour detailing who they want to invite, by planning your own celebration, you can be sure that your nearest and dearest will get the message. And, you can leave out some people you might not want to join – without having to advertise the cull (mean? us? No way!)

4. Your invitees will be more likely to say yes

For who can say no to the bride herself? By sending out personal invitations, or calling those you really want to join yourself, you increase the likelihood of your fav people putting whatever else they have to the side to celebrate this meaningful time in your life.

5. There will be no nasty surprises

Don’t want a stripper? Or, maybe, can’t imagine a hen’s night without one? If you plan your own you know you’re going to get who and what you want. So, no penis-shaped balloons, or cock hats for you – unless you think that’s loads of fun, that is!

6. You can keep an eye on the budget

Not everyone has the same financial means. And, as the fulcrum around which all your loved ones circulate, you are more likely to know – more so, at any rate, than your maid of honour – the limitations some guests may have already flagged. By planning your own do, you can keep this in mind and make sure everyone has a good time, no matter the size of their pocket.

7. Your hens know they’re in safe hands!

This does not mean that your hens will not have peace of mind if your maid of honour plans your big night out. But, by organising it yourself, they know they won’t have to worry too much about trying to please, because you know precisely the kind of shindig you love!
