Your wedding is meant to be the happiest day of your life. So, why not spread some of that love and happiness by giving back on your wedding day? Here are 6 great ways you can do some good.

1. Go eco-friendly

Your love-filled affair can do some good to the earth too. Work with florists that compost their clippings and ask relatives or guests to take flower arrangements home with them. You can also select local flowers to cut down on shipping footprint and use recycled paper for wedding invitations.

2. Open a charity list

A wedding list saves your guests time from wracking their brains about what to get you, which is usually a list of dream items from a particular shop. A charity registry allows guests to donate to causes close to the couple’s heart, an idea we absolutely love!

3. Choose a non-profit run location

There are plenty of locations you can choose to say your ‘I dos’ and to dance the night away with your nearest and dearest. Consider opting for a reception location owned by non-profits like nature reserves or historic venues that can be great settings to tie the knot.

4. Give out charity favours

You don’t need to go overboard to thank your guests for being part of your special day. You can handout a card saying a donation to your favourite charity has been made in their name or a product that supports a local or non-profit organisation.

5. Share the food feast

Once the festivities are over, you’re bound to have a lot of food left over and let’s face it, you probably won’t eat it all. Don’t let it go to waste! With a bit of forward-thinking, meals, finger foods, and unopened bottles of wine can be donated to a senior citizen’s home, hospital, homeless shelter or orphanage after your big day is over.

6. Pay it forward

It’s all about the dress! Many women dream of the day they walk down the aisle. However, there are some brides out there who cannot afford it. Wedding dress donations are a wonderful way of paying it forward, and giving your gorgeous dress another twirl!
