“We’ve been married twice, and don’t exclude a third!”
Angie and Duane Laus, who have been together for 18 years, talk about married life, their son Mick, and getting married for a third time.
Angie Laus, producer and presenter of popular TV programme Hadd Ghalik, and husband Duane, both of whom work and collaborate together at WeMedia, spoke out in a recent interview with Gwida magazine about their decision to tie the knot not once, but twice!
“The first time we got married we had a civil wedding,” said Angie, “but five years later, we got married again in church. I’m not excluding getting married a third time either – I’ve always wanted to do it all over again for our 25th wedding anniversary, but this time, in Las Vegas.”
Angie reveals that the time Duane proposed to her was probably his most romantic gesture to date. “In the early days, romantic gestures were more frequent, even though I’m not the most romantic person myself. But when we went out for dinner one night and he got the waiter to hide the ring in my dessert, it was a very romantic moment – I felt shy as many people were looking at us, but very happy at the same time.”
Duane adds that discovering he was about to become a father to their now-teenage son Mick gave him all the more reason to tie the knot with Angie and look forward to spending the rest of his life with her and their son.
“The three of us spend a lot of time together, despite the fact that circumstances change over the years. But Mick and I have always had a great relationship, more like close friends rather than father and son,” says Duane. “Now that he’s become a young man, we can talk and joke with each other like men, and I hope that our relationship will continue this way.”
Asked how they enjoy spending their downtime, Duane says that the couple, who have been together for 18 years, spend a lot more time together than most couples. “We get up and go to work together, work in the same office, go back home and have dinner together and then watch a film or series in the evening together as well. Many people ask us how we put up with it, but after 18 years, it’s clear that we have a good time together.”
