3. Dominican Republic
The 64-kilometre sea front, known as the Coconut Coast, is a veritable beach mecca, with wide expanses of sand and, yes, coconut trees. And, its myriad hotels and restaurants make this a convenient place to base yourselves form. But, if you’re looking for something more rugged, head to the pristine La Isabela Bay – named after the 15th century Spanish Queen of the same name.
4. Barbados
This Caribbean destination can give all the rest a run for their money (well, perhaps, not all of them). Scuba fans will fall in love with the reefs and marine wildlife, while those who would rather lie on the beach and soak the sun lay out their towels on Bathsheba beach.
5. Broome, Western Australia
Fancy paddle boarding with your loved one as the sun sets? The coastal resort of Broome in Western Australia might be just the ticket. A 10-minute drive from the centre will take you to Cable Beach, set on the Indian Ocean. This is a spot offering up rare experiences: the tours at Willie Creek Pearl Farm and the spectacular Horizontal Falls – set between two facing gorges.
6. Cuba
Get to Cuba while you can still enjoy an experience away from the throngs of tourists which cram the beaches in other spots of the world. Although the country is starting to open up, the dam has not yet burst. And, the country boasts a spate of historical sites, picturesque squares and wide beaches that might soon become too crowded for some honeymooners.
