Local pays €3,000 to Have a Spell Cast on Her Cheating Husband

Clearly, love can drive you to do the craziest of things, such as giving away €3,000 to a stranger to cast a spell on a dishonest husband by invoking a demon by the name of ‘bezuzu’.

Not exactly what you’d call a crime of passion, but things could have ended badly, or mysteriously, for Iain Gilbert Milroy whose now ex-wife hired Mario Cardona from Victoria, Gozo to cast a spell on her husband’s mistress for having an affair, Times of Malta reports.

Cardona charged her a whopping €3,000 to cast a spell on the mystery woman, in the hope that Milroy will return to his wife. Once the woman realised the spell had failed to work, she filed a police report against him, and the police proceeded to press charges against Cardona. Today, Cardona was acquitted of fraud by a Gozitan court, effectively closing the case which dates back to 2014.

The case takes yet another turn for the bizarre – the court heard that the spell involved a ritual invoking a (fictitious?) demon by the name of ‘bezuzu’, which would result in the termination of Milroy’s affair and return him to his wife. Milroy accidentally found out about his wife’s actions after discovering a conversation with Cardona on facebook. Unsurprisingly, the couple have since divorced.

The woman complained that Cardona didn’t return the money after the spell failed, but unfortunately for her, Magistrate Joe Mifsud was not on her side, as he determined that by no stretch of the imagination could one ever conclude that Cardona had deceived the woman when she was the one who requested the service. Better luck next time. Or not.
