1. Head to the fish market…then cook!
Living on a Mediterranean island has its advantages! Why not make the most of your relationship with the sea by cementing your love with some great food? Head to Marsaxlokk together, pick out some fresh fare and whip up a delicious dish which you can prepare together.
2. Stay in and play a board game
Autumn has struck and, when the weather turns, all you want to do is stay in. But, if you’re fed up of simply slouching on the sofa, and watching Netflix, take a game out, pour some wine and may the best person win!
3. Take a bath together
Or, if you’re in the mood for something a bit more indulgent – and warm – fill the bath up, add some bubbles and get a bottle of vintage to accompany you both as you sink into each other.
4. Go for a picnic
Once the weather clears, Malta’s outdoors is perfect for some fresh air and a different view of the island. Lay out your gingham rug in the bucolic surroundings in Buskett, though the island’s beaches are also stunning – and much quieter – at this time of year.
5. Get a couple’s massage
If your life is so full at the moment, and all you want to do is chill, book a couple’s massage so, at the very least, you can do so together! And, when booking a session, spa facilities are usually thrown in for the same price, which means a whole day of relishing each other’s company.
6. Take a dance class
Get up close and personal in a dance class – even if you’ve got two left feet! Your tutor will show you some moves you can replicate at home. And, even if you get stuck, at least you’ll have fun trying. Now, tango!
7. Bowl!
Although the bowling alley does tend to get quite busy, there are times when it’s a bit quieter (mainly weekdays). So, put your bowling shoes on (don’t forget the socks!) and show your other half just what a knock-out you truly are!
8. Play tourist
Who doesn’t love to savour the beauty these islands have to offer? Pick an area – Valletta or Mdina are very popular – and make a day of it. Visit a museum, take a long, leisurely lunch and just amble about talking about your loves, hopes and dreams.
9. Make cocktails
Learning how to collaborate can sometimes be a challenge but you can make it fun. Book a cocktail-making class and get a professional to teach you a few tricks; or buy a fancy recipe book, pick a spirit and try as many out as possible!
10. Go for brunch
And, then, wake up a tad early and go for brunch together, starting the day on a fantastic note. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the island which will offer up a table for two for the most important meal of the day.
