8 Ways to Save Money on Your Wedding Venue
One of the priciest wedding bookings is undoubtedly the venue, but if your purse strings are feeling a little tight, there are several ways to cut costs.
1. STEER CLEAR FROM SATURDAYS
Saturday is the single most popular day for weddings, and often, venue prices reflect that. While getting married on a Saturday may be convenient and traditional, consider Friday evening, the evening before a public holiday or a day wedding on a Sunday for what could be a far more reasonable, cheaper alternative.
2. PRIORITISE
What is at the top of your list of priorities when it comes to a wedding venue? Have you got your heart set on a great view, a spacious dancefloor or an elegant interior? Once you’ve decided on what’s most important, focus on finding a venue with that one thing in order to save a little bit of your budget on the things that don’t matter as much.
3. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Having your wedding reception at an unexpected venue rather than the tried and tested wedding halls and hotels could be both refreshing and a money saver. Interesting alternatives could be a beach, art gallery or even a boutique hotel for a smaller reception.
4. MARRY IN THE MORNING
Serving brunch or lunch at your wedding reception could be more budget-friendly than serving dinner, so it may be worth getting dolled up a little early for!
5. NEGOTIATE
Get quotes from a number of different venues and compare prices. Use that information and negotiate. Some venues charge a lot more for weddings than they do for regular parties so check this out to, and whether it’s worth it for you.
6. AVOID WEDDING SEASON
Getting married in the off-season months (like November or January) could also cut costs. While summer weddings are great due to the sunny weather, a winter affair could have an equally charming effect, particularly if you go for a snowy, winter wonderland theme.
7. GO ALL-INCLUSIVE
Opting for a venue that comes with its own catering and décor, so that you don’t have to combine different vendors, can often work out cheaper than the alternative. Doing this can get you great deals and save you a pretty penny.
8. KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET
A number of venues charge by the hour, so a shorter reception will save you money. Apart from venue costs, shortening the reception by an hour or so will also reduce prices for the photographer, videographer and entertainment – it’s a win-win.
