Sometimes it feels as though celebrities live in fantasy land. But, these A-list couples had the awkward encounter of a blind date, just like we did, and we suddenly feel much better about our non-fantasy love life!
1. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The Duke and Duchess themselves met on a blind date all thanks to a mutual friend. “It was definitely a set-up,” Markle said during their first TV interview following their engagement. “I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her there,” said Prince Harry. #Swoon.
2. Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen
The most genetically-blessed couple that is the Bundchen-Bradys met through a seemingly mundane set-up. Back in 2009, Brady admitted that a close friend bugged him to go on a date with the supermodel just weeks after a split. “This friend told me he knew a girl version of me,” Brady said. The couple married three years later, and the rest is history!
3. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
It was revealed that the former Hollywood power couple actually met on a blind date that was orchestrated by their agents. While their relationship ended in divorce after five years of marriage, they were truly the industry’s ‘It’ couple back then.
4. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
We’ve got Anne Hathaway to thank for bringing these two together. In 2008, after Blunt co-starred alongside Hathaway in the hit The Devil Wears Prada, Hathaway arranged a meet up between the two and the rest is history! “I met her, and I was so nervous, and I was like, ‘oh no I’m going to fall in love with her.’ I shook her hand and I went, ‘I like you.’” Such a romantic!
5. Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth
According to Hemsworth’s interview during a Spanish game show, the pair met on a blind date. He also told Elle magazine that he knew from that moment that Pataky was the one. “From the first time we met, we just made sense.”
6. Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan
The One Tree Hill former actress and the Supernatural actor first met on a blind double-date. Jensen Ackles, Morgan’s co-star organised the whole thing with wife Danneel Ackles, who happened to be Burtons’ OTH co-star back in the day. “We ended up back at my house drinking shots of tequila,” Morgan recalls. If only all tequila-filled nights had this happy ending!
7. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
As perfect as these two are, their how-we-met story is a classic. They first met on a double date – with other people! “She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl,” Reynolds explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It was the most awkward date for the respective parties because it was just like fireworks coming from across the table.”

It was a match made in heaven for these two love birds. The couple’s first flirtation was at an awards show in 2007, thanks to actress Beverley Mitchell who introduced them. “I was like, OK, this is happening,” she said. “They were really cute.”
