1. Verona, Italy
Be like Romeo and Juliet! This balcony in the northern town of Verona in Italy has seen many a man drop to his knee. And while it may scream stereotype, you’ll only be a short train ride away from Venice!
2. On a gondola or in San Marco Square, Venice
Or, alternatively, just hop to the awe-inspiring open piazza that is San Marco’s. Italy does not have a shortage of stunning places where you can pop the question and it’s so close to our little island we don’t even need to venture so far! #doublewin
3. Amalfi coast, Italy
Ok, last one in this country, we promise! The Amalfi coast may evoke thoughts of glamourous film stars and Matt Damon driving around as Mr Ripley, but it’s a stunning spot for your pledge! Take a boat ride from the shore and whip that ring out!
4. Bruges, Belgium
Little cobbled streets, rustic bridges and gingerbread houses will look stunning in your proposal photos – particularly if you plan for the autumn. Soft light, warm tones and snuggles are all on the cards!
5. Kirkjufell, Iceland
Head north for some spectacular scenery at Kirkjufell in Iceland, a peak which goes up to 463 metres and backed by a rush of waterfalls. You may recognise it from Game of Thrones – watch out for it in episode 6, season 7 – so this may be the perfect spot to declare your commitment if you’re a fan!
6. Cappadocia, Turkey
Drop to your knee while soaring high in the sky in Cappadocia, a place of softly-lit peaks and picturesque rock-hewn churches. But, if you’re afraid of heights, you can always keep your feet steadily to the ground and seal the deal with a kiss!
7. Kyoto, Japan
And for the more adventurous – or, simply, if you have more cash to splash – head to the Far East. Japan has no shortage of stunning places where you can get engaged but Kyoto is a favourite, particularly during cherry blossom season!
