A year ago today, beloved Maltese actor and broadcaster Joe Debono passed away at the age of 63 following a two-year battle with ALS.

His wife, Tanya, took to Facebook to commemorate his wonderful life and all the beautiful memories they shared.

“And just like that, a year has passed… we feel the emptiness, and a lot of it. But today I have to remember all the beautiful moments we have shared together”, she expressed.

“Till the end, you did as much good as you could, and the love that your friends still have for you has spread to us as well. At many points, my thoughts turn to you, but what’s most difficult are those beautiful family experiences that I’d want to share with you,” she continued.

Joe was best known for his portrayal of the character of ‘Sur Bondin’ on Xarabank every Friday night.

He was very public with his ALS diagnosis and fought hard along Bjorn Formosa to raise the necessary funds and open a second ‘Dar Bjorn’.

Rest in peace, Joe!
