Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma welcomed a baby girl, and their first child together, last October, who they named Banks. And while the Lizzie McGuire star has shared plenty of adorable snaps of her family and baby daughter on Instagram, this has got to be the most moving one yet.
The actress and singer shared a video of the moment she held her daughter for the first time, following the home birth which took place at Duff’s Los Angeles home. In the video, new-born baby Banks can be seen reaching out to her mother, with those tiny arms wide open for a hug.
Duff wrote, “I’ve been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal.... it was so absolutely lovely and rewarding (and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged... for the first time.”
“In my mind I like to believe that she was saying good job mom,” she added. The actress said that her partner, Matthew, “provided such a safe calm strength,” during the birth, while “my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on.”
Duff shared the wonderful and emotional moment with her fans on the occasion of baby Banks’s 5-month birthday.
