Once upon a time, the Season 4 trailer for Netflix’s The Crown left us itching for 15th November and not living happily ever after. The dramatic new trailer had us at the edge of our seats as it gave viewers a glimpse into what’s to come this season.

Primarily, we will see Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s extravagant royal wedding and the start to their relationship. And while it’s a component of the royals’ story we have been so eagerly waiting for, it seems it just a slice of the entire action, with viewers set to expect to see tensions between the Queen and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

And judging by the minute-and-a-half-long trailer’s narration, drama and tension will be key themes in this season. “Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made. A prince and princess on their wedding day. But fairy tales usually end at this point with the simple phrase… ‘They lived happily ever after.’ As husband and wife live out their vows, loving and cherishing one another, sharing life’s splendours and miseries, achievements and setbacks, they will be transformed in the process. Our faith sees the wedding day not as the place of arrival, but the place where the adventure really begins.”

Basically, everything is far from happily ever after, and after three seasons and following the real-life royals, we should know that royal life is isn’t always a fairy tale.
