In a celebration of enduring love and devotion, M’Stella and George Grech – parents of His Eminence Cardinal Mario Grech – recently marked an incredible 70 years of marriage. The couple’s platinum anniversary was honoured during a particularly meaningful moment: the Solemn Pontifical Mass commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Coronation of Our Lady.
The Mass, led by Cardinal Mario Grech himself, was held in the couple’s home parish and carried special significance. As part of the celebration, the Cardinal blessed a recently restored statue of Saint Joseph – an initiative that served as a personal gift from M’Stella and George, commemorating their lifelong commitment to one another.
To mark the occasion, the parish priest presented the couple with silver images of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu – a token symbolising a prayer for continued blessings, health, and more years of shared life together.
The love and joy were shared with the wider community, as parishioners and loved ones gathered after the Mass to join the Grech couple in celebration. The event concluded with a slice of celebratory cake served on the church parvis, offering a sweet ending to a truly beautiful moment.
Happy 70th anniversary to the sweet couple!
