As his wife walks behind him in the background, he looks back on their proposal story, and as one would expect, it’s adorable… but his rendition of it is absolutely hilarious.

After going the traditional route of asking her dad for permission, Jimmy recalls also telling Nancy’s brother, before making a reservation at a fancy restaurant in New York. His intention, however, was to propose after dinner, because “I didn’t want to get engaged at the restaurant because what if in 30 years the restaurant changes hands and becomes a laser tag place? And we’d have to tell our kids, ‘this is where you mum and I got engaged…’” he jokes.

But it was not to be, as later that night, after an “amazing” but “very long” dinner, the couple got home, but he still hadn’t proposed! Wanting it to be perfect, Jimmy held out for an incredible four months, until he found the perfect opportunity.

It finally went down at Nancy’s family’s summer home, where he took her for a drink by the dock at sunset. “I said to myself ‘OK, don’t cry, let her cry first if someone’s gonna cry,” he laughs, before revealing, “as soon as I pulled the ring out of my pocket I started crying,” as Nancy cracks up in the background. “I got down on one knee and started shaking,” he continues, “my voice was quivering, and it looked like I was having a heart attack!”

After eventually popping the question, the family – who were watching from inside the house – started to cheer! “Somewhere my brother has this on tape but said he wouldn’t give it to us for at least 20 years,” adds Nancy, as the couple laughs at the sweet memory.

Could these guys get any cuter?
