One of the most romantic films of all time, The Notebook, turned 15 today (yes, it’s been that long since Allie and Noah’s love story unfolded on our screens), and everyone who’s watched the film is taking a trip down memory lane, and loving it.
On the occasion of such a momentous anniversary, E! News took to Instagram to remind everybody of the unbelievable chemistry between Allie and Noah, and shared a quote by Ryan Gosling way back in 2004. “It’s really Rachel’s movie,” he had said of his co-star and then-girlfriend, Rachel McAdams. “If it’s a car, she’s driving it…It really kind of happened because of Rachel, I think.”
Also, we found out that James Garner, who played the older Noah and passed away in 2014, was as romantic in real life as he was in the movie – he married his wife after just 14 dates! “We went to dinner every night for 14 nights,” he said in a past interview. “I was just absolutely nuts about her.”
And after all these years, E! News put a hot topic out there about The Notebook that left many fans reeling. “Enough time has passed. So it’s time to ask an unpopular questions,” the celebrity site wrote. “Did Allie make the wrong decision choosing Noah [as opposed to Lon]?”
Of course, we don’t think so, and one huge fans tends to agree. “HE BUILT HER HER DREAM HOUSE WITH HIS BARE HANDS. What the heck y’all trying to do to us this early in the morning,” said the Instagram user. Mhm.
