Queen Elizabeth, 93, will be addressing the UK and Commonwealth countries this Sunday through a televised speech following the UK’s battle with COVID-19, a virus with which her son and heir Prince Charles was also afflicted with.

The announcement comes in the light of latest reports indicating that Coronavirus cases in Britain soared by almost 700 in the past 24 hours.

This is the fourth time Queen Elizabeth has broadcasted a speech during a crisis in her 68-year reign, with the previous three occasions surrounding the respective deaths of Princess Diana and the Queen Mother in 1997 and 2002, as well as during the First Gulf War in 1991.

The address, which will be recorded at Windsor castle, will be broadcast on TV, radio and social media this Sunday at 9pm Maltese time.
