A new image has officially been released by the Royal Family’s Instagram account on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s wedding anniversary. The monarchs are celebrating 73 years of marriage today.

The photograph shows the royal couple opening an anniversary card made by the Cambridge children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as other cards and letters sent in by well-wishers.

The Queen, 94, was just a 21-year-old princess when she married the then-26-year-old Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten on 20th November 1947 at Westminster Abbey. Their relationship is reportedly the longest of any British sovereign.

While the Queen continues to carry out her duties, the Duke, 99 retired from public life in August 2017. They are spending the lockdown at Windsor Castle and celebrations are expected to be lowkey, according to reports.
