The remarkable Queen Elizabeth turns 94 today! Britain’s monarch, who is spending her birthday away from family due to the coronavirus lockdown restrictions in the UK, is enjoying her day with husband Prince Philip, 98, at Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
Traditionally, the Queen’s birthday is celebrated with a 21-gun salute on the day, which will not be carried out this year. Nor will her official birthday ceremony, Trooping the Colour, which is held without fail in June.
Instead, she’ll enjoy low-key celebrations with her husband of 72 years, the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as a video chat with family members, especially her many great-grandchildren.
Well wishes have poured in from family members, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and her son Prince Charles and wife Camilla.
Queen Elizabeth is England’s longest reigning monarch – and in in such times of crisis, she continues to prove a source of stability for her country. There really isn’t another queen like her!
