Blogger Melissa Gatt, aka theislandmumma on Instagram, made a massive revelation last night: identical twins are on the way for her and sailor hubby, Daniel!
Melissa took to Instagram to share this latest turn of events: “Yep, you read that right! Never in our wildest dreams did we think twins would be in the cards for us…We are beyond petrified for this new chapter, but also feel so blessed and excited for what’s to come. A clear sign that life doesn’t always go to plan, but God had a better plan in store for us all along,” she wrote.
She also elaborated on her fears: “Things were not all rosy once we found out we were pregnant with twins. For the first 10 days (at least) I was crying a lot, I was INCREDIBLY overwhelmed and extremely terrified,” she wrote, adding that as parents to a little toddler, they are well aware of the demands a new addition to the family would bring, let alone two.
She continued that: “I have never pictured myself as a mum of three. The idea I had in my mind was always to have two. The very fact that we are now having twins has forced us to make drastic changes to our lives, and it’s all happening quite fast.”
Despite the roller coaster of emotions, however, Mellissa says she and her family are excited and ready for what life is about to throw at them. “We feel so incredibly blessed to have been chosen as the parents of IDENTICAL TWINS (a 0.45% chance of this happening, and we have been chosen!) I will be very candid on this journey of becoming a mom, and share all my feelings, and progress…so if this is not your kinda thing…#sorry #familyof5 #identicaltwins.”
The great news comes in the wake of another big reveal: husband Daniel is set to participate in the 2022 edition of the Golden Globe Race which will see him sail around the world for over 9 months.
While it is not yet clear how the husband-and-wife team will be tackling this scenario, one thing is for certain, it’s an adventurous road ahead for both!
