Whether the cake involves a buttery brie, a wonderful Wensleydale, a gorgeous gorgonzola or a pretty pecorino is up to the tastes of the bride and groom.

And if you think a cheese cake can’t be pretty, think again – check them all decked out in grapes and figs or berries and flowers.

To create a balanced effect, you want to make sure each wheel is at least an inch or two smaller in diameter than the one it is resting on.

The hardest cheese should go on the bottom, to create a solid base.

Work with a cheese vendor who will let you sample every type of cheese you are considering so you can make sure they look as good as they taste.

But rest assured that they’ll look every bit as lovely as a traditional wedding cake, and taste as good too!
