As the day of your wedding approaches, you’ll want to make sure you look like the best possible version of yourself. Denise Marston of DEA Aesthetics, which provides a professional, one-stop concept offering one-to-one care for clients, talks us through the pre-wedding beauty regimens that will ensure you’re positively glowing (and not just with love).

“Both the bride and the groom, as well as their parents should do regular facials, manicures and pedicures and maintain their skin care regime ahead of the wedding,” Denise says. “We recommend that you start your beauty regime at least 8 months before the big day.”

Here’s how to get started.

FIGURE OUT YOUR FITNESS PLAN

Eating right and exercising regularly will keep you from crash dieting the month or two weeks before the wedding to shift the last few kilos, Denise says. “At DEA we help you follow a plan and help with our technologies for slimming, skin tightening, or inch reduction. This combo will make your body look incredible and will keep your skin glowing and your hair shiny.”

GET SERIOUS ABOUT SKIN CARE

Skin is prone to playing up during the hectic months leading up to the wedding, but cleansing, toning, and moisturising your skin twice a day — and exfoliating twice a week! — will help keep your skin under control, Denise says. “Facials are very important to achieve an even complexion. We treat acne, acne scars and pigmentation using our professional peels, microneedling, Dr Pen, Aqua Gold Facials and other effective ways to help all skin types.”

Facials range from €45 to €90.

IRON OUT THE WRINKLES

If planning the wedding has given you a few unwanted creases in your skin, you can smooth crow's feet or forehead lines with Botox. “Botox, an injectable that paralyses the muscle and helps iron out wrinkles, takes a few days to kick in and only lasts about six months,” Denise says. "Going in for a trial to see how it wears on you eight months before is a smart idea."

GET RID OF THE FUZZ

Thinking about laser hair removal? Denise recommends that if you want to be perfectly fuzz-free on your wedding day (and your honeymoon!), you'll have to start treatments about eight months before. “You'll need about four to six weeks in between each treatment, and you'll probably need five to six treatments to get smooth skin,” she adds.

TEST-DRIVE A SPRAY TAN

If you think you’re looking a bit too pale and want a subtle glow on your wedding day, make sure you book a trial spray tan, ahead of the wedding – it will let you know exactly what shade your skin will turn when you get it done again two days before your wedding. “Regardless of the way you choose to get your glow, be sure to thoroughly exfoliate your skin before getting spray-tanned or applying the faux glow yourself to eliminate dead skin cells that can cause an uneven finish,” Denise advises.

BRIGHTEN YOUR SMILE

A gorgeous smile is essential for those wedding snaps. On top of cutting down on teeth-staining drinks like coffee and tea, Denise recommends using an at-home teeth whitening kit. “We also offer teeth whitening laser by Pearlsmile. This treatment is very popular with our brides-to-be and clientele have satisfactory results, followed by homecare.”
