The family business, now in its second generation, offers a diamond, wedding and engagement ring personalisation service for an intimate and highly personal touch to such symbolic jewellery. The client’s creative involvement is determined by the individuals themselves, but Gaba’s experienced consultants, led by Wayne Satariano, are there every step of the way to guide each client through the design process.
The Design Process
Gaba makes use of various materials, such as 18kt gold, diamonds, coloured diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and other precious and semi-precious stones. All care is taken to deliver the ring of each client’s dreams while respecting their pre-determined budgets.
While the personalisation process varies from client to client, it generally starts with a consultation with one of Gaba’s experienced consultants, led by Wayne Satariano. Throughout this, the client is given the time to explain their vision and provide mood boards and inspirational images for the consultant to refer to. A 3D sketch and photo render of the proposed design is then supplied by the consultant to the client, along with the price of the stones, 18kt gold setting and manufacturing costs.
A ring in the making
Once the design is approved, the ring moves on to the manufacturing stage, a process headed by Ray Bonnici, Goldsmith & Design Consultant, and Domenico Debole, Gaba’s expert stone setter, with 40 and 30 years of experience respectively in their individual fields. The overall process generally takes between one to three weeks to complete, a timeframe which may at times vary depending on the complexity of the design.
It is standard practise for jewellery with precious mounted stones be either checked or serviced at least once a year, and for this Gaba also offers free consultations by appointment, with the cost of maintenance determined on a piece by piece basis.
