Tips for a Perfect Restaurant Proposal
One thing the Maltese love to do is go out to eat, so it’s no surprise that restaurant proposals are so popular – they combine a relaxed ambiance and good food with the person you hope will be your love for the rest of your lives. Here’s how to make sure everything goes according to plan!
Whether you’ve decided to pop the question at one of your favourite little eateries or you’ve shelled out for that fancy restaurant that’s been on your ‘to try’ list for a while, a delicious meal and romantic evening together makes for the perfect proposal set-up. Here’s how to make sure everything goes by without a hitch!
INFORM THE RESTAURANT
Call ahead and let the restaurant know of your plans. Most restaurants will be only too happy to help when it comes to arranging extra touches like flowers and champagne, or organising a special dessert that will double up as ring bearer.
MAKE IT A WEEKNIGHT
The Maltese love eating out, and the most popular evenings are by far in the weekend. If you’re looking for a cosier, more intimate setting than a bustling eatery full of loud diners, consider a less popular weeknight, when your restaurant of choice is less likely to be busy.
THE PERFECT DESSERT
The sweetest time of the meal to pop the question is when it’s time for sweets! Whether you’ve arranged a special treat for your other half or not, dessert makes for the perfect moment to propose, just as you’ve both enjoyed a lovely meal and are ready to celebrate with dessert and champagne!
ROPE IN FAMILY AND/OR FRIENDS
Even if you’re not keen on roping in family and friends to take part in an elaborate proposal (you know, like the ones you’ve seen on YouTube), it doesn’t mean they can’t be part of this special night. Imagine the surprise on your partner’s face when she’s just agreed to marry you, and the people on the table in the next room turn out to be her family, waiting excitedly to wish you both well!
