Local singer and songwriter Paul Giodimaina is celebrating his mother's 86th birthday in a very different way today.
Reminiscing earlier birthday celebrations in a heartfelt Facebook post, Paul reflects: "Usually today is a big day for the family when Mum celebrates her birthday," he said.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrations are restricted and contact limited to just 15 minutes of interaction with a perspex separating them: "This year it's going to be different...Mum you will still be able to celebrate it with the staff and residents of Central Home while we have to content behind the perspex but its for yours and everyone's well being in there at such times," he wrote.
Paul continues in a hopeful tone: "My promise when all this eases off we will celebrate it bigger than before. Hang on in there and have a great day...We love you very much," he concluded.
Happy birthday Mrs Giordimaina!
