Game of Thrones has come and (sadly) gone, and while weddings throughout the series were not always a happy affair (we’re looking at you, Red Wedding), there’s one thing fans can’t deny: that every bride’s gown throughout the series’ 8 seasons have been pretty amazing.

As fans grapple with the end of the hit HBO show, here’s a nostalgic look back at some gorgeous GoT bridal wear, no matter how ill-fated the nuptials were!

1. Daenerys Targaryen

In terms of relationships, Daenerys and Khal Drogo’s marriage was one of the only ones to end up with a loving and equal partnership. Danny wore a stunning light lavender, boho-yet-medieval gown that suited Khaleesi perfectly. Her long platinum locks and braided crown perfectly complimented the dress designed by the shows genius designer, Michele Clapton.

2. Sansa Stark

The first of Sansa Stark’s two weddings was to Tyrion Lannister, when she wore an extremely detailed embroidered dress that included pomegranate fruit, a symbol of fertility. The golden of the fabric is the House of Lannister’s official colour.

3. Margaery Tyrell

In her first wedding in season 4, Margaery Tyrell wed King Joffrey Baratheon. In a show-stopping, ethereal gown made of a linen silk mix with woven leaves and hand-stitched roses, it took between five to six weeks to complete and included the briar rose, which is the Tyrell’s signet. Dubbed as the Purple Wedding, Margaery looked stunning on her wedding day, despite marrying someone so vile!

4. Margaery Tyrell (again)

Now marrying Tommen Baratheon, Joffrey’s little brother (much to Cersei’s dismay), her bridal vibe changed completely. With darker, richer colours, the A-line dress features bronze and brown embroidery with a fitted bodice and bustling skirt, exuding a truly regal feel.

5. Sansa Stark (again)

Aside from the Red Wedding, this is perhaps the next worst wedding in line. For her second marriage to Ramsay Bolton, known as The Black Wedding, Sansa wore a fitted gown topped with a feather collar, reminiscent of the cloaks her brothers wear, that certainly lacked the celebratory feel. The shape was designed by Michele Clapton to look similar to crypt statues in Winterfell.

6. Talisa Maegyr

Held in secret in the forest by seductive torchlight, Robb Stark marries his love Talisa Maegyr, despite being promised to one of the Frey sisters, which is what basically caused the horrible Red Wedding. Being a hurried wedding in the woods, Talisa wore an everyday dress and cloak, with a golden-coloured scarf to match.

7. Roslin Frey

For what is arguably the worst wedding in Game of Thrones (and probably all of TV), Roslin Frey wore a gorgeous pleated dress for her wedding to Edmure Tully, known as The Red Wedding. The dress was subtly embroidered, while her coat featured hand-stitched flowers.
