In the latest issue of Gwida magazine, Keith and Alexia share the story of how they first met. “We met in Paceville in 2005, when a friend of mine asked me to introduce him to Alexia, who happened to be at this place with a friend we both knew,” says Keith. “Alexia made it clear she wasn’t interested in being introduced, and that was the end of it. We happened to meet again a few days later, exchanged numbers, and started to keep in touch more regularly from then on.”

Although the couple chose to take things slowly at first, it was only a matter of time until they knew that something special was brewing, even though Keith had told Alexia early on that he couldn’t get into a relationship because he was a father.

“Keith was surprised to learn that it wasn’t a problem for me,” says Alexia. “On the contrary, the fact that he’s a father meant that he was responsible, sensitive and had a heightened emotional intelligence, qualities which he still has today.”

The couple got married in 2011, soon after they attended a wedding together and realised that they were both ready to take things to the next level. And after eight years of marriage, their love and enthusiasm has only grown stronger.

“We still look forward to and enjoy a lot of things together, including coffee dates, travel and exercising together, and most importantly, communicating,” they say.

“Communication is crucial and the crux of a relationship. The moment you stop expressing what you’re feeling is when a relationship begins to disintegrate,” Keith and Alexia explain. “A relationship doesn’t strengthen overnight though – we managed to develop a relationship built on trust and love as we accepted each other’s differences from day one, but always kept communication and respect at the heart of it.”
