IN PICTURES: Ben & Kristina’s Luxury, Exotic Honeymoon
From bathing elephants in Sri Lanka to scuba diving in the Maldives, Ben & Kristina’s honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime.
In a recent edition of Gwida magazine, Ben Camille shared some highlights from his honeymoon with wife Kristina, including theme park days, plenty of sightseeing as well as jungle and desert safaris. And if his social media shots are anything to go by, we can’t but agree that it looked like one hell of a trip.
Ben’s honeymoon was booked and planned by ROCS Group, and he was sponsored by Cortefiel Baystreet as well as Perfumes & More for which he is brand ambassador.
Elephant sightings
“Here, we were in the Sri Lankan jungle on a safari, where we got to see elephants up close and in their natural habitat.”
Historic sites
“Here we visited a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka called Sigiriya, also known as 'rock fortress'... and yes we climbed to the very top, over 1,600 steps and approximately 200m high. The top of this World Heritage site was once home to an old Sri Lankan king by the name of King Kasyaka – talk about a home with a view! Day of fascinating culture and physical exercise.”
Splashing around with Maurice
“In heaven again when we visited an elephant orphanage in Pinnawala, Sri Lanka. This Elephant Orphanage is for wild Asian elephants, and has homed over 80 elephants to date (including some of the cutest baby elephants ever). The orphanage was founded to care and protect for the many orphaned wild elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. In this photo, we were told that Maurice (the elephant) loved being splashed while he took his nap...they weren't joking; he absolutely loved it, and so did we!”
Marvellous Maldives
“The Six Senses Resort in the Maldives was literally paradise! The service is probably the best in the world, the sea is magical and our room was to die for. Also, a cool fact – they have what they call a 'bare-foot luxury' philosophy here, where you take your shoes off before coming onto the island and stay without shoes for the whole stay as you’re literally either walking on real wooden parquet flooring or smooth soft sand – it’s amazing. I still can’t get used to wearing shoes again after a week of that! Also, a bike is given to each and every guest upon arrival at this hotel as a way to get around the island. Absolutely loved it.”
Luxury lodging
“Another destination we visited was Dubai – we stayed for three nights at the new Versace Hotel, Palazzo Versace, and the service was exceptional. The design is truly unique, very chic and the service is outstanding. The whole lobby area is tiled using over 50,000 mosaic pieces – madness!”
Fun in the Sun
“Probably one of the most fun-filled days on our honeymoon where we became kids again for the day. We had an amazing time at Aquaventure, Atlantis Resort The Palm. Dubai UAE – this place is so much fun, we really had a blast and just couldn't stop smiling. It’s also an ideal family destination, filled with fun water rides, restaurants and much more.”
Inside the world’s tallest building
“The last 3 nights of our honeymoon were spent at The Armani Hotel located inside the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. This hotel redefines luxury! Giorgio Armani himself, one of the world’s leading fashion icons, was obviously involved in the design of this hotel, and indeed has managed to create a brand and a product that is unsurpassed in innovative design, style, form and function. Dubai really impressed me.”
