Gorgeous bridal cover-ups to beat the chill

Gorgeous bridal cover-ups to beat the chill

Planning a wedding for autumn or winter? From capes and coats to scarves and stoles, here’s our pick of chic bridal cover-ups to keep you warm at your winter wedding.

Much as we empathise with men in suits on a hot summer day, you can’t help but feel a little bad for a bride in a sleeveless or strapless dress as at a chilly winter wedding. It’s never nice to feel cold, so keeping cosy on your wedding day is key – and it’s easy to achieve with one of these gorgeous cover-up options!

BRIDAL COAT

Opt for a thick and stylish coat in ivory or white that flatters your look and complements the style of your dress, such as a wrap-over coat with a tie belt or kimono-style coat with wide sleeves and lapels. If you’re a little more adventurous and prefer to stand out among your bridal party rather than complement them, choose a coat in a colour that features elsewhere in your wedding, such as your bouquet or choice of décor.

STYLISH BLAZER

A blazer is both classic and fashion forward, especially when worn by a bride. Try out cropped versions, long blazers, double-breasted blazers, a military style or even a tailored one to find your best look, and match it to the predominant colour of your wedding outfit or to your groom’s suit colour of choice.

FUR STOLE

Both classic-looking and warm, fur stoles make a great impact for a winter wedding and add a touch of glamour to any bride’s look. Look out for faux fur in winter white, brown or blush pink that pairs well with your bridal party or colour theme.

CAPES AND CAPELETS

Capes and capelets are one of 2018’s hottest bridal trends, and make for a stylish way of covering up for your ceremony or simply to beat the chill, if your big day is taking place in the winter months and you need some protection from the cold.

FLUFFY FEATHERS

One bridal trend that will never go out of fashion is feathers – used to embellish bridal gowns, headdresses and cover-ups, they always look classy and draw from the opulent world of The Great Gatsby. Whether you opt for large, long feathers or short fluffy ones, this option will ensure all eyes are on you, and that you’re all snuggled up in the process.

DELICATE SHAWL

Drape a warm, thick shawl around your shoulders and secure the ends with a sparkly broach for a touch of sparkle. Purchase the same one for your bridesmaids in the colour of your dress, and one for yourself that matches your bridal party’s dresses – that way, nobody will clash and but you’ll still ensure you stand out.
