Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth had an incredible love story and one that spanned over seven decades. Over the years, Prince Philip gifted his wife stunning and timeless pieces which she’s loved to wear over the years.

Venus Ruby Brooch

In 1959, Philip set up the Duke of Edinburgh’s Prize for Elegant Design which was won by jeweller Andrew Grima one of the years. Philip recognised Grima for raising the bar of modern British jewellery, purchasing the Venus brooch from the jeweller’s 1966 collection for the Queen. The brooch is made of gold and features carved rubies and diamonds.

Engagement ring

Prince Philip had a whole year to get the engagement ring ready as the Queen’s father, the late King George VI agreed to the marriage in the summer of 1946 but asked that a formal announcement would be made the following year after Elizabeth’s 21st birthday. Philip commission jeweller Philip Antrobus to create a three-carat ring from a dismantled antique tiara that his mother, Princess Alice, gave him.

Bracelet – wedding gift

Gifts for their 1947 wedding were in abundance, but one of the Queen’s most treasured ones was the bracelet gifted to her by her husband. Philip used the remaining diamonds from the dismantled tiara used for the engagement ring to create this bracelet.

Cullinan V brooch

The Cullinan V brooch was worn by the Queen to celebrate her husband’s 99th birthday in 2020. The brooch is heart-shaped with all diamonds set in platinum. It’s made with an 8.8-carat diamond and has smaller diamonds surrounding it.

These are just our favourites! We think there are more pieces that she keeps in a private collection.
