Heather Carter, owner of Sophia Bell Photography, was willing witness to an unexpected proposal in Beaumont, Texas. "When Emily messaged me to schedule a session for her and her boyfriend, I got excited because, first of all, I love photographing young couples, but it was more than that…. The fact that they were both military was very humbling. Then a week later Elijah contacted me wanting to surprise her with a proposal during the session, and I knew it would be amazing." She said yes and they will get married sometime next year."

Brittany, from West Virginia, had long wished her grandfather, Rev. Ronald Adkins, would officiate her wedding but he died in April 2016, a few months before. On the day, photographer Sarah Irvin, captured a magical moment when Brittany’s grandfather’s voice began playing over the loud speaker, taken from a voice recording of her sister’s 2015 ceremony. “He prayed over them, announced them as husband and wife then told the groom he may now kiss his new bride. I’ve photographed a lot of weddings and this was the most incredible moment I’ve ever had the honour to witness.” Sarah said.

Anoop Krishna, a photographer working at a wedding in India, knew where to point his camera for this comedic shot of the bride, Preethy Varghese, and her wedding party. His images are full of the fun factor and include the groom falling down to earth after being thrown in the air, as well as both husband and wife being pulled in a tug-of-war.

This photo went viral earlier this year, with over 270,000 likes and 62,000 shares since it was first posted. The memorable image was taken by James Day, a photographer in New South Wales, Australia, who was setting up the scene for a big, spectacular sunset shot. “Just as the light became amazing I scrapped everything I knew and I walked up to them and said, "guys, stop posing. Just enjoy your first sunset together as husband and wife…then I said to Adrian, "I have a question for you, but I want you to tell the answer to Roslyn and not me…Out of the billions of people on the planet, you've chosen to spend the rest of your life with Roslyn. Can you tell her why?" This was the result of that answer.

Pedro Alvarez, a photographer based in the Canary Islands, has won multiple awards for this fun shot of a bride and groom celebrating on the beach, while a group of surfers looks on. Capturing spontaneous moments of joy is what he does best, and his work includes ephemeral shots of happily married couples in the sea. “Catching unique moments and sharing the feelings of happiness from such a marvelous day. Memories that endure forever” is how he describes his work.
