8 Food Trends to include in your Wedding this Year
The latest food trends are sure to make their mark on wedding menus in 2017 – here’s our pick of the best!
FOOD TRUCKS
Yes, it seems like food trucks are still going to be very much a thing in 2017. And having a food truck at your venue is as trendy as it gets. Your guests will love it – whether it’s tacos, burgers or anything else being offered up at the end of a fabulous reception!
BRUNCH
We have been loving the rise in popularity of breakfast and brunch foods for the past couple of years, so why not incorporate them into your wedding menu in 2017? Think pastries, mimosas and yoghurt parfait – perfect with a glass of celebratory bubbles!
CRAFT BEER
Another trend that will continue to grow from 2016 is craft beer. These small batch and homemade brews could be just the personal touch you’re after to make your big day that much more special.
JACKFRUIT
Faux meat is a major trend this year, and not just among vegetarians. The faux meat hero however is the jackfruit – reportedly a perfect substitute for pulled pork! Why not opt for jackfruit’s mild taste and chewy meat-like texture instead of actual meat at your wedding?
MOCKTAILS
Fresh-pressed juices, flavoured teas, sipping vinegars and muddled herbs and spices are giving those who rather skip the alcohol an alternative that’s far more creative – and what better way to give guests an alcohol-free option at your reception?
EMPANADAS
Pies are out, empanadas are in. These crispy, buttery pockets of meaty goodness are sure to have your guests swoon with delight, and will make for a welcome treat at the after-party too!
SARDINES
The smelly, protein-rich fish has suffered from a bad rep in the past, but seems to be rising in popularity. Interesting flavours and smoked varieties are also adding appeal, so we may be looking at sardines incorporated in everything from canapes to buffet dishes in 2017.
CARNIVAL FOOD
Carnival and ‘festa’ food looks set to be trending this year, with couples opting to incorporate tasty treats you’d normally associate with popular kiosks into their weddings. Think popcorn, candy floss and doughnuts – a sure-fire way to brighten up your menu!
