1. WILD FLOWERS

Centrepieces from florists look amazing, but generally also come with a matching price tag. If your purse strings can’t stretch that far, why not make your own? Buy or pick a selection of wild flowers and a few simple vases for a simple, rustic look. Add a little charm by tying a rough ribbon around them, or painting them in your wedding colours for Pinterest-inspired perfection.

2. PHOTO FRAMES

For a personal and romantic display, shop around for some reasonably-priced photo frames and place photos of you and your hubby-to-be within them. These could be from your relationship or your pre-wedding shoot (if you had one). Use them alone or add a candle or other small decoration to elevate them further.

3. PICK A THEME

A great idea for bringing your centrepieces together is to follow a theme. A gardening theme, featuring cute gardening tools and pots, could be adorable for a spring wedding, or if you’re going for a vintage theme for your flowers and décor, a collection of cute teacups, saucers and other little knick-knacks will really stand out.

4. RECYCLE!

There’s a massive recycling and upcycling trend going on right now, so why not take advantage of it for your centrepieces? Fill mason jars or bottles with flowers or decorate tin cans with paint or wrapping paper for a chic, rustic feel – a little creativity will go a long way.

Candles are great for setting the mood and lending an air of romance to your reception, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit your décor. Another plus is that they don’t cost the earth, so you can afford to really go all out for a truly classy outcome.

6. LANTERNS

An open flame can be dangerous with kids about, so if candles are a no-go, a fabulous replacement could be lanterns. They make for stunning centrepieces and are absolutely perfect for elegant evening outdoor receptions.
