With just months to go until the end of 2018, we’re filing through some of the most memorable bridal trends that have appeared at celebrity weddings, royal weddings, and fashion shows this year, and which won’t be going anywhere fast.
1. The Meghan Markle Effect
An obvious choice is the Duchess of Sussex’s Givenchy wedding gown. Simple, yet utterly elegant, this dress stole the hearts of many viewers all around the world, being described as a timeless piece. And we think so too! The slim three-quarter sleeves added a hint of refined modernity to the whole ensemble, making her look stunning and regal.
2. Bohemian
The bohemian bride has a fresh new face, in the form of laissez-faire and comfortable dresses that are sweet and simple, and perfect to enjoy the day in. A rustic bouquet and a flower crown complement the ensemble and will have you looking sexy and sophisticated in all the right ways.
3. Suited up
This is another option that has emerged in 2018 and is likely to stick around for a while longer. Comfortable and elegant, a suit or jumpsuit is chic and sophisticated, perfect for civil ceremonies, afterparties, rehearsal dinners, and if you dare – the aisle. Suits are back and they mean business!
4. Beach babe
This stylish and comfortable dress is perfect for the ultimate beach bride. American dancer Julianne Hough’s reception dress included a flattering bodysuit, a sheer, sparkling ‘naked’ train, and a matching sheer cape. Changing into a different dress for the wedding reception is a trend many brides are going for, allowing for more comfort and the opportunity to kick off their heels to dance the night away.
5. Royal treatment
Probably every girl, at some point, has dreamt of a very elaborate princess wedding gown for her big day. Maltese singer Christabelle Borg embodied this dream with her princess-inspired ball gown with lace sleeves for that pure regal feel to her big day.
6. Word play
One of the most noticeable wedding dresses this year was worn by Italian model and blogger, Chiara Ferragni – a custom-made Dior reception dress that had words describing her relationship with Fedez embroidered into the tulle. Some of the inscriptions are lyrics from the song that Fedez wrote to propose to her! She described it as “my whole relationship in a dress, so it’s amazing!”
