1. Undergarments
What’s worn under that stunning wedding dress of yours will make a world of difference to the way it fits and accentuates your figure. A good bra should never be underestimated, especially for strapless or plunging gowns, and neither the RIGHT pair of undies that A) shouldn’t show; B) should be seamless to ensure no lines are visible; and C) should provide support (if needed and desired), especially for figure-hugging gowns that offer very little mercy. Hang these right next to your wedding dress to ensure you don’t forget to wear them.
2. Headwear
Be it a tiara, a comb with fresh flowers, a sparkling head wrap or shimmering pins, place all your hair accessories together with your veil, which you surely (please don’t!) cannot forget. Your hair stylist will likely be placing your hair accessories on for you, including your veil, so keep all the pieces together to ensure they’re handy when the time comes around.
3. Jewellery
The right pieces of jewellery are the perfect finishing touch to your bridal look, but you want to make sure you don’t leave any out or behind in the last minute frenzy of getting ready with your gang. Gather all jewellery items together and place them in a designated spot near your gown, and if you’ve got heirloom or precious items there that you don’t want to leave unattended, ask a family member or your maid of honour to guard them while you’re getting ready.
4. Essentials kit
A zip may tear, a strap may snap or a button may fall off – with many women preparing to look their best for your big day, it’s possible that a fashion malfunction occurs in the final hour. Have an emergency sewing kit at hand in case anything of the sort crops up – include safety pins, needles and thread, fashion tape, a thimble, a small pair of scissors and anything else you deem necessary just in case the worse happens.
5. Replacement shoes
Picking a pair of shoes to go with your wedding dress is part of the fun of assembling your perfect bridal look, but often, gorgeous shoes spell sheer discomfort and pain, which is why packing a back-up pair of heels, wedges or flats that are comfortable enough for you to walk and dance in is essential. You’ll likely be packing a bag to be left at the venue including your after-party or going-away clothes, make-up and other essentials that you might need throughout the day or night. Pack your shoes in here too to make sure they’re not left behind.
