2017 Beauty Trends To Rock At A Wedding
Shimmery eyes? A peachy pout? Magical nails? Whether you’re the bride or a guest, here are the boldest yet most wedding-friendly beauty trends of 2017.
Mermaid Eyes
2016 was all about unicorns – unicorn brushes, unicorn palettes, unicorn eyeliner – you get the picture. But why be a magical pony, when you can be a mermaid? The original look uses four colours, but you can make the look more wedding-friendly by applying blending a shimmery shade on the inner halves of lids with a brighter colour at the outer corners, topping it all off with lashings of mascara.
Rapunzel looks
Long hair worn loose is making a comeback and it’s a gorgeous style for weddings too. Make sure you encourage your hair to grow long and strong by eating right – lots of almonds, salmon and avocado – and don’t forget to treat your hair to a deep conditioning mask every other wash to prevent breakage. When you go in for a cut, ask your hairdresser to only trim the dried and frayed ends to maintain your cut while keeping the length.
Ombre lips
Ombre lips have been an Instagram fad for ages, but most of the looks are a bit too wild to wear on your wedding. However, you can tone it down and still rock this chic trend down the aisle. Outline the lips with a bold shade of your choice for definition, then fill in the centre with a brighter colour for an easy finish. As long as they’re from the same colour family, it will work.
Braid bling
Rings aren’t just going on your fingers this year! Braids are getting more blinged out, thanks to these extremely on-trend metal rings. It’s a look that would translate beautifully to a hairstyle that incorporates braids, giving a slight edge or attractive accent to a super-feminine traditional do.
Peach
Peach and its variations are the preferred-blush for many warm and neutral-toned women, so it’s good news to hear that it’s back with a bang. Wear a light dusting for a demure and pretty effect, and don’t be afraid to pair it with a peach-hued lip colour or gloss as well – matchy-matchy cosmetics will be big in 2017.
Natural Brows
Full brows aren’t going anywhere this year, but they’re likely to have a more natural-looking appearance than the super dramatic, slightly over-the-top brows of recent times. This is perfect for a wedding – let your natural eyebrow shape do the framing for you, and then just pitch in for a bit of maintenance and to tidy up any loose hairs. Again, don’t fret too much – simplicity is the name of the game.
Powder polish
You know those weirdly hypnotic videos you’ll see on Instagram or Facebook sometimes of people dipping their nails into a pot of powder and emerging with a perfect nail? Well, dip powders been around forever but social media has made them smoking hot again. For longevity and nail health, they’re somewhere between a normal manicure and the acrylic treatment, lasting around two weeks. With an endless range of hues to choose from, they’re a pretty solid choice for a bridal manicure.
Silicon Sponges
Kiss your trusty beauty blender goodbye and make way for its squishier, transparent cousin, the silicon sponge (or the jelly blender). It looks like a miniature breast implant but you’ll grow to love it. Not only does it not absorb any of the product into the sponge, it also blends your makeup seamlessly for a finish that looks almost Photoshopped. The photographer will thank you for making his job that much easier.
